Sinckler said that many people who were immobile would have difficulty accessing the agency.
Sinckler said that while it is understandable why the commission would want to ram an agreement down the throats of Caribbean people before the slated 31 Dec, deadline, it was not so clear why the region’s top negotiator was harassing his employers to sign a deal that clearly, as it stands, will not deliver the development opportunities these countries clearly need.
EPAs have been established as a means through which those countries that make up the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) states grouping can benefit from international free trade, and serve as a direct response to criticism that preferential trade agreements offered by the EU are incompatible with WTO rules.
