Minister of Culture Juca Ferreira of Brazil
The Culture Minister Juca Ferreira has campaigned for the girl's freedom and even called up the Governor of São Paulo State José Serra asking for him to intervene on behalf of Caroline Pivetta da Mota - to no avail, as the governor is quoted to have said that Caroline's release is up to the Justice.
Culture Ministry Executive Secretary Juca Ferreira has been appointed acting culture minister and is expected to be named to the post permanently in early August after Silva returns from the Beijing Olympics.
