Croatian Minister for Tourism Damir Bajs has prefaced World Tourism Day by championing his countrys record on conservation.
Minister Bajs said that although Croatia was reasonably safe from adverse weather conditions the country had a responsibility to nurture its natural resources.
Bajs said on Saturday: All people have a right to be involved in tourism regardless of their differences, and the ministry will help them through the project Tourism without Obstacles, which will provide financial support for tourism by people with special needs.
Croatia believes its key tourist industry can attract as much business in 2009 as last year despite the financial crisis and negative global outlook for the industry, Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said on Wednesday.

After managing all the wine in one go, the Tourism Minister Bajs said that the zero alcohol tolerance for motorists was to be relaxed as of June 17, but told those present to drink responsibly.
Speaking of revenue, Minister Bajs said that according to estimates the entire annual turnover of Croatian tourism is seen at EUR 7.
ZAGREB, 20 August 2008 Croatia saw a three per cent rise in tourist arrivals in the first seven months of this year, while the number of bed nights increased by six per cent, which is slightly above expectations, Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said at a press conference in Zagreb on Wednesday.
Citing figures from the National Tourist Board, Bajs said he was pleased by the fact that tourism revenue was increasing above the planned five per cent.
Bajs said that expectations of higher revenues were partly based on the fact that this year Croatia could boast more high-quality accommodation facilities, especially hotels.
OPATIJA, 17 November 2008 Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said on Monday that his ministry would secure considerably more funds for the promotion of Croatian tourism abroad despite austerity measures proposed by the government.
The main task of the Tourism Ministry, as well as of the National Tourist Board and other partners, is to prepare next years tourist season in the circumstances of the global financial and economic crisis, Bajs said at a two-day conference of restaurant owners and officials of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts in charge of tourism, which opened in the northern Adriatic resort of Opatija.
Since tourism growth for 2009 is projected at up to two per cent, Bajs said that Croatia would have to fight for every tourist.
Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said that in July over six million tourists visited Croatia, an increase by three percent compared to last year.
