Minister of National Education and Professional Training Joel Desrosiers Jean-pierre of Haiti

Acknowledging that schools are located in everything from converted private homes to rundown buildings, Jean-Pierre has called for an education commission to help in the evaluation of school building safety.

CERTIFICATIONS Jean-Pierre said education officials are considering asking schools to provide a building safety certificate as part of the accreditation process.

Jean-Pierre said his ministry had no knowledge of Grace Divine's existence until officials arrived in the Canapé Vert neighborhood and entered the narrow corridor of cinder-block homes.

It is a problem of urban development in general, Minister of Education Joel Desrosiers Jean-Pierre said at the Grace Divine school site.
