BAGHDAD, AUGUST 19 (BNA) -- IRAQI ENVIRONMENT MINISTER NERMIN OTHMAN HAS DENIED NUCLEAR RADIATION IN AL TUWAITHA WHERE THE TAMOOZ REACTOR IS LOCATED.
Othman said that an investigative committee is making spot checks at four detention facilities and the Human Rights Ministry is working to improve conditions.
Othman said each Arab family wishing to return to its original province would get 20 million Iraqi dinars (roughly US$ 16,000) with a plot of land in the city to which it would go and will have the right to sell their property in Kirkuk and other disputed areas.
Othman expressed his hope that promotion of security in Iraq would help further protect the natural resources in the war-torn country.
Iraqi Environment Minister Nermin Othman said here Sunday that Iraq's environment pollution problem will soon be removed.
Othman said Kurds had worked hard to reduce violence against women and had set up shelters for battered women.
Narmin Othman is the acting Minister of Human Rights and was chosen as the Minister of Women's Affairs in the Iraqi Interim Government which assumed power June 30, 2004.
Othman had been "on her way from the northern city of Sulaimaniyah to Baghdad when her motorcade was attacked.
Narmin Othman knew long ago the price of politics in Iraq, where guerrillas already have assassinated two high-ranking female officials as well as mid-level activists.
Minister Othman was exactly right.
