Speaking at a meeting of senior law-enforcement officials in Akmola, Mr Suleymenov said criminal groups had been influencing police officers.
Interior Minister Kairbek Suleymenov said on 19 September that there are currently no grounds for trying to locate insurgents in southern Kazakhstan, Interfax reported.
Suleymenov said at a news conference on Monday.
Suleymenov has his own ambitions to rise to the top of the political elite.
