Hamidon is married to Datin Amy Low Abdullah and the couple has two children.
Hamidon was appointed Permanent Representative in 2005, having previously served as his country’s Ambassador to Indonesia ( 2003-2005 ), High Commissioner to Singapore and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
Hamidon has a master’s degree from Harvard University and holds various national honours, including the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang ( 2001 ) and the Kesatria Mangku Negara ( 1995.
During the meeting, Hamzah and Hamidon discussed about the planned working visit of the vice president to Malaysia in September.
Hamidon said the Council would be required to conduct a regular review of the human rights record of all countries beginning with those serving on it.
Hamidon said Malaysia was also vying for a seat on the Peace-Keeping Commission, a new body created at the UN World Summit last year.
