PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 — Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Douglas Unggah Embas said Malaysia lacks water resources in many parts of the country despite boasting five times higher per capita renewable water as compared to many regions in the world.
Datuk Douglas Unggah Embas says Malaysia is practising sustainable forest management Malaysia will provide RM2 million in training and capacity building, peat land rehabilitation and installation of a haze early warning system.
Embas said Malaysia had been practising sustainable forest management and that 60 per cent of the country was forested.
Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Douglas Unggah Embas said transhipment services had contributed to the economic growth but still lack the desired efficiency as some freight companies do not utilise the electronic method of business transactions.
Unggah Embas said that over the years Malaysia has seen the movement of cargo to Singapore when it should have been processed by local ports and airports.
