Permanent Representative to the UN, New York Somduth Soborun of Mauritius

Somduth Soborun is the Ambassador to the United Nations for Mauritius.
Soborun was his country’s Ambassador to Egypt and Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ambassadors’ Group to Cairo, positions he held since August 2004.
Soborun was a teacher with the Ministry of Education and an instructor at the School of Business Studies and Accounting of Seychelles Polytechnic.
Soborun was born on 27 June 1951 in Mauritius.
Mr Soborun said India should be awarded a permanent Council seat, and so should a country from the Latin American and Caribbean region.
