Elizondo Torres was appointed by President Felipe Calderón as Minister of Tourism on December, 2006.

At the inauguration of the 21st Annual Convention of the Tourist Developers Association (AMDETUR, Spanish initials) Mexican Tourism Minister Rodolfo Elizondo Torres said that this is the right time to clearly and firmly establish punitive measures against municipal authorities when they dont abide by basic precepts.
