Hussain Haroon is the chair of the English speaking club of Karachi.
In July 2008, Hussain Abdullah Haroon was appointed as the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, replacing veteran Munir Akram.

On the just-concluded presidential elections, Mr Haroon said the secretary-general spoke very warmly about Mr Zardari.
Mr Haroon said he had told the UN chief that Pakistan would continue to play a positive role at the UN.
Mr Haroon was accompanied by Farukh Amil, Pakistan’s deputy permanent representative.

While participating in the committee’s debate on “Right of peoples to self-determination”, Mr Haroon said the exercise of that right had empowered suppressed and disenfranchised peoples to strive to achieve equality before the law and to determine their own political, economic, social and cultural systems.
