LISBON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Portugal will invest up to 15 billion euros in infrastructure through 2015, Public Works Minister Mario Lino said on Monday, after his government approved the location for a new Lisbon airport.
Lino said that with construction investment having a weighting of 11% in Portugal's GDP, the government has no intention of slowing down its schedule of public works tenders despite the global credit crisis raising financing costs.
Lino said the government expects to launch a second tender, including a third bridge over the Tagus River with a rail link, by the end of 2008.
Lino said that public funds and cash from Brussels will provide 55% of the financing for the high-speed railway while the cash flow from the project will raise the remaining funding.
