Hajabakiga was born in Rwanda but fled with her mother in 1961 after her father was killed.

Hajabakiga said that a preliminary test was carried out in the three districts of Gasabo, Karongi and Musanze in Kigali City, and Southern and Northern provinces, respectively.

Hajabakiga said most of the deaths occurred in the wetlands.
