Saad was the Chairman of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) in London, United Kingdom in the nineties but he resigned from the SLPP in 2006 to join the PMDC.

Saad has Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, a rare, slow-growing, cancer that begins in the cells of the immune system.
Now, along with four other people, Saad has formed a support group for southeast Michigan "WM" patients.
Even though he was sidelined with his illness, Saad knew the township was in good hands.
Saad is sad that Geier is retiring soon, but dealing with change is just part of the job.
Saad had a variety of jobs before arriving in Chesterfield Township.
Saad came to Chesterfield in 1998 when then Chesterfield Township Clerk Brenda Boughton hired him as the deputy clerk.
Saad is a graduate of Ohio State University as well as Central Michigan University.
But despite all that could be, Saad said he'd love to retire from his job as deputy clerk in Chesterfield Township.
Cancer has changed the way Saad has looked at life, he said.
Saad has a wife named Eileen and they have two successful children.
John Saad expressed governments appreciation to ADB for taking up such venture to reconstruct the Lungi-Port Loko road.
