Permanent Representative to the UN, New York Francis K. Butagira of Uganda

Butagira was educated at the University of Dar es Salaam, Harvard University and the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies.
Butagira was born at Bugamba in Mbarara District on 22nd November,1942.
Butagira is currently the Permanent Representative to the United Nations from Uganda.
Apart from being a bright student, Butagira was an excellent leader who listened and discussed issues before taking decisions.
Butagira was Chairman of the Legal and Security Affairs Committee in Uganda’s National Resistance Council (Parliament) from 1989 to 1996.
Butagira was educated at Dar es Salaam University College, Harvard University and London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
Chairman Butagira expressed regret that the resolution was put to a vote, which was adopted by 97 to 4, with 63 abstentions.
Butagira expressed similar sentiments, saying that the resolutions on the rights of the child and xenophobia were areas that “should have generated consensus—and to go to a vote, I think, this was unfortunate.
Francis Butagira is the Ambassador to the United Nations for Uganda.
