Speaking at victory celebrations held at various venues at the weekend in her constituency, Cde Muchena said the fact that the ruling party won the presidential run-off did not mean youths should relax but they should work towards economic empowerment.
During the run-off, Cde Muchena was rarely in her constituency as she was working nationally but still the supporters voted for the President in large numbers.

Speaking at a workshop in Harare the Minister Of Science and Technology Development Dr Olivia Muchena said there has been an upsurge in imports including food and seed, a development which has made it necessary to put measures in place that protects the country’s long term economic interests.
Dr Muchena said there is need to tightly monitor the imports for purposes of ensuring that genetically modified products do not floot the country as this will cost US exports markets in countries and regions that are still uncomfortable with Genetically Modified Products.
Dr Muchena said the region still faced challenges when it came to the development and implementation of appropriate policy, legal, institutional and administrative frameworks that promoted the safe and responsible use of biotechnology in socio-economic development.

Zimbabweans urged to consume diversified food to fight nutritious problem HARARE, Jan 5 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwean Minister of Science and Technology Olivia Muchena has called on local people to consume diversified food in order to fight nutritious problems the country is currently facing, local media reported Wednesday.
Muchena said the country had three main categories of nutritional problems and these were protein energy malnutrition especially among young children, vitamins and mineral deficiencies.
Announcing the fund at a press conference on 4 January, Muchena said the first grants would be issued this month.
