Minister of Finance Siosiua Utoikamanu of Tonga

Former Finance Minister Siosiua Utoikamanu was sacked by the king last month.
According to Radio NewZealandInternational, the finance minister Siosiua' Utoikamanu said Tuesday his government is already addressing concerns about the state of the economy raised last month by the International Monetary Fund.
Utoikamanu said Tongan government has already implemented measures including policies to encourage private sector growth.
Utoikamanu said they are confident this will result in a stabilized economy and lays a solid platform for the country to move forward.
Siosiua Utoikamanu has given no official reason for his resignation.
Mr Utoikamanu was appointed Minister of Finance in 2001 and he was also the Governor of the National Reserve Bank of Tonga from 1991 until 2003.
Tonga has appointed a liquidator for its flag carrier, Royal Tongan Airlines (RTA), Finance Minister Siosiua 'Utoikamanu said in a statement.
